System Requirements for Optimal Performance
Understanding the technical requirements for running our platform ensures you have a smooth, reliable experience. Whether you're accessing via web browser, desktop application, or mobile device, meeting these requirements is essential for optimal performance and access to all features.
Web Browser Requirements
Our web application works best with modern browsers that receive regular updates and security patches. We officially support the latest versions of Google Chrome (version 90+), Mozilla Firefox (version 88+), Safari (version 14+), and Microsoft Edge (version 90+). Using the latest browser version ensures you have access to all features and the most recent security protections.
While older browser versions may work for basic functionality, we cannot guarantee full feature compatibility or optimal performance on outdated browsers. Browsers more than two years old often lack support for modern web standards we use to deliver advanced functionality. If you're experiencing issues, updating your browser to the latest version is often the first troubleshooting step we recommend.
JavaScript must be enabled in your browser for the platform to function. Most modern browsers have JavaScript enabled by default, but if you or your organization have disabled it for security reasons, you'll need to whitelist our domain. Similarly, cookies must be enabled for login sessions and preference storage. Third-party cookies aren't required, but first-party cookies from our domain are essential.
✓ Browser Check Tip
Not sure which browser version you're using? Type "about:version" in Chrome's address bar, "about:support" in Firefox, or check Safari > About Safari in the menu. Alternatively, visit a site like whatismybrowser.com for detailed information about your browser and whether it's up to date. Keeping your browser current improves security and ensures compatibility with modern web applications.
Operating System Requirements
For desktop and laptop computers, we support Windows 10 and later versions. Windows 7 and 8 reached end-of-life and no longer receive security updates from Microsoft, which creates security risks we cannot mitigate. Mac users need macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or newer for full compatibility. Older Mac operating systems may work but can encounter performance issues or missing features.
Linux users can access our platform through supported browsers on most modern distributions. We test primarily on Ubuntu LTS releases and other popular distributions like Fedora and Debian. While we don't provide official Linux desktop applications, our web application works excellently in Linux browsers. Chrome and Firefox are particularly well-supported on Linux.
For mobile devices, iOS users need iOS 13 or later for our mobile app. The app takes advantage of iOS features unavailable in older versions, and supporting legacy iOS versions would compromise the experience for users on current devices. Android users need Android 8.0 (Oreo) or newer. Both iOS and Android devices should have the latest available OS updates installed for security and compatibility.
Hardware Requirements
The platform is designed to run on a wide range of hardware, but certain minimum specifications ensure smooth performance. For desktop computers, we recommend at least 4GB of RAM, though 8GB or more provides a better experience, especially when working with large projects or multiple browser tabs. A dual-core processor (2GHz or faster) handles the application comfortably, though quad-core processors provide noticeably better performance for complex operations.
Screen resolution should be at least 1280x720 pixels for desktop browsers. While the platform adapts to smaller screens, you'll have a cramped experience below this resolution. We recommend 1920x1080 (Full HD) or higher for comfortable viewing and access to all interface elements without excessive scrolling or zooming.
For mobile devices, most phones and tablets from the past 4-5 years meet performance requirements. Very old devices with less than 2GB of RAM may struggle with our mobile app, particularly when working with media-heavy content or large datasets. Screen sizes from 4.7 inches to tablets work well, with responsive layouts adapting to each form factor.
Network Requirements
A stable internet connection is essential since our platform is cloud-based. We recommend minimum bandwidth of 5 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload for basic usage. These speeds handle standard operations like loading pages, viewing documents, and sending messages comfortably. For optimal performance, especially when uploading files, video conferencing, or collaborating in real-time, 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload or better is ideal.
Latency (ping time) matters for real-time features. Connection latency under 100ms provides a responsive experience. Latency over 300ms can make real-time collaboration feel sluggish, though the platform remains usable. Satellite internet and some mobile connections have high latency that affects responsiveness despite adequate bandwidth.
Firewall and network restrictions can interfere with platform access. Our application uses standard ports (HTTPS on port 443, WebSocket connections on port 443), which most networks allow by default. If you're behind a corporate firewall or VPN, ensure these connections are permitted for our domain. Contact your IT department if you're having connectivity issues from your workplace network.
Additional Software Requirements
To view or edit documents within the platform, you may need additional software or plugins depending on file types. PDF viewing is built into modern browsers, so no plugins are needed for PDFs. For editing Office documents directly, your browser's built-in capabilities may suffice for basic viewing, but downloading documents and editing in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, or LibreOffice provides the full editing experience.
Video and audio playback requires your browser to support modern codecs. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge all include necessary codec support for the video and audio formats we use. If you're on a restricted corporate system, verify multimedia playback works by testing a sample video on the platform—if it doesn't play, your organization's IT department may need to adjust browser settings or proxy configurations.
Accessibility Requirements
For users relying on assistive technologies, we support major screen readers including JAWS, NVDA on Windows, and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS. Our platform follows WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility guidelines. Keyboard navigation is fully supported throughout the interface—you should be able to access all features without a mouse if needed.
Voice control software like Dragon NaturallySpeaking works with our platform for navigation and text input. High contrast modes and operating system accessibility features are respected in our interface design. If you encounter accessibility barriers, please contact our support team—we're committed to ensuring the platform is usable by everyone.
Storage Requirements
Since our platform is cloud-based, you don't need significant local storage for the application itself. Web browsers use some disk space for cache and temporary files, typically 100-500MB depending on usage. If you download files from the platform for offline work, ensure you have adequate free space on your device—we recommend at least 1GB free for comfortable operation and file downloads.
Mobile app installations require 50-200MB depending on the platform (iOS or Android). The app stores cached data to improve performance and enable some offline functionality, which can grow over time. Most mobile devices have sufficient storage, but older devices with 16GB or less total storage may need periodic cache clearing.
Recommended vs. Minimum Specifications
The specifications listed above represent minimums for basic functionality. For the best experience, especially if you work with large files, complex projects, or use advanced features extensively, we recommend higher specifications. An ideal setup includes 8-16GB RAM, quad-core processor or better, 50 Mbps internet connection or faster, modern GPU for graphics-intensive features, and SSD storage for faster file operations.
Power users working with video editing, 3D rendering, or processing large datasets within the platform should consider even higher specifications. Contact our solutions team if you're deploying the platform for specialized, resource-intensive workflows—we can provide tailored recommendations based on your specific use case.
Checking Your System Compatibility
Unsure if your system meets requirements? Our system checker tool analyzes your current setup and identifies any compatibility issues. Access it from the help center or settings menu. The tool checks browser version, JavaScript and cookie settings, internet speed, screen resolution, and operating system version. It provides a simple pass/fail for each requirement along with recommendations for any issues found.
If the system checker identifies problems, it usually provides direct links to solutions—whether that's downloading a browser update, enabling cookies, or adjusting settings. Running the system checker before contacting support can often resolve issues immediately and helps you provide relevant information if you do need to contact our team.
